“Ora di oro” or St. Nicholas baking cookies 21.12.2014

A friend Matevž wanted to join one of my mini photosessions for a quite some time. He’s still “fresh” and very enthustiastic photographer who just went fullframe. I have to admit, he does show “symptoms” of a good and accurate photographer. Since I had a free sunday afternoon after a really long time and since I know where is a good place to take photos in winter, I invited him to join me.

When I started with photography, I’ve read about lighting many times. You know, every light has it’s color. In the old days, you had to be at the right time at the right place, to catch it. Well, this still counts today, but you can cheat and make it in photoshop as well.(I am slowly saying goodbye to photoshop and try to make 90% of photo without it).

Golden hour or as Italian say “ora di oro”. That’s the time when sun sets. Exact minute or two. Then it’s time called Saint Nicholas baking cookie.

Matevž and I went to Kovk. I know Kovk very well, I’ve been catching last rays of light there when I was younger. Me and my newest “toy” Leica x2, Matevž and his D600. Well, I’ve taken my Nikkor 24-70 2.8 so Matevz  could enjoy the angle of 24mm lens. The last paraglider just took off and we enjoyed the colors of the light and beautiful sunset, and yes Nicholas was baking cookies.

Gear: Leica X2.
