Col, bora (burja) and snow 28.12.2014
Finally a true winter at Col. Minus 5 degrees and bora ( burja). Killer combination. Snow winding left and right and actually you can’t figure out from where the wind blows. It reaches around 160kmh and only a true “Colčan” is outside in this weather. Bora (wind) makes temperature even lower (around 10 degrees less). One proof more that the winter at Col is one of the worst winters in Slovenia. There is an orange alarm in whole country and when a news reporter asks someone from Col, how do they handle this conditions, all he do is smile. Everyone’s ready. Everyone knows that they will have to clear snow every two hours. They know that if they go to Vipava valley they will have to plow snow and then again when they return.
When I was younger and we took a bus to Ajdovscina, it was always interesting and funny to see when first snow fell, half of the buses from other places were late, but from Col, Otlica and Predmeja didn’t.
Catching bora was always a challenge. Even though it was cold, it was worth waiting for right moments.
